OUR SCHOOL

SCHOOL PROFILE

St Joan of Arc is a co-educational parish primary school in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Brighton. Established in 1921 under the guidance of the Presentation Sisters, the school is now governed by a lay Principal and staff. The school currently has an enrolment of approximately 390 students, consisting of sixteen class groups. There are two classes in each year level, with approximately 26 students in each class.

We support students to become successful learners, confident individuals, and active and informed citizens by providing a comprehensive and inclusive curriculum. We build on essential skills and authentic contemporary learning which is both interactive and innovative. Our learning program enables and encourages students to think critically, work creatively, analyse information and solve problems. We cater for individual needs, learning styles, backgrounds, perspectives and interests to prepare children for the challenges of being part of a complex global community.

St Joan of Arc supports children to make sense of the gospel values and to understand how to enact these in the contemporary world. The school works in close partnership with the parish to facilitate the children in Grades 3-6 to celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation throughout the year. Our school celebrates school and class masses regularly.

We promote a family-friendly environment and build strong community partnerships by welcoming and actively encouraging a wide variety of participation in the life of the school. At St Joan of Arc, the positive involvement of parents in all aspects of their child’s learning is welcomed and encouraged. In recognising that the family is the most significant influence upon an individual, learning is seen as an ongoing partnership between home and school.

We have a great vision for your child’s education.
