TEACHING & LEARNING

SPECIALIST PROGRAM
Art

Visual Arts includes the fields of art, craft and design. Students create visual art works that communicate, challenge and express their own and others’ ideas. Their work is displayed throughout the school and as part of the JAFFA Ball and St Joan of Arc Art Show.

Performing Arts

At our school, Performing Arts lessons are conducted weekly across each year level, focusing on Drama, Music, and Dance. Every two years, these efforts culminate in a whole school musical production, with past performances including The Lion King Jr, Aladdin Jr, Madagascar Jr, and Shrek Jr. These productions offer students the opportunity to showcase their talents and hard work.

Japanese
Students from Prep to Year Six participate in weekly Japanese lessons. The students are immersed in the culture and customs of the Japanese people, with further emphasis on language acquisition as they move through to Year Six.
Physical Education
Physical Education and Sport have a high priority at St. Joan of Arc. The school emphasizes the importance of Physical Education in the total education of the child. Each week the students participate in a Physical Education lesson and a sport session. The Physical Education lesson deals primarily with the development of gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination. During the sport sessions, students participate in game-based activities.
Camps

At St Joan of Arc we believe the opportunities arising from an experience such as camp, further contributes to the overall development of each child. The camp programs offered aim to reinforce the concepts of relationship building, teamwork and resilience. The challenging and stimulating experiences provided, take the children beyond the classroom and foster independence and self-confidence.
